Frequently asked questions about eye, lip and cheek make-up.
Make-up contains a lot of ingredients that are not able to be completely removed with facial bar soap or foam. This is why make-up remover is necessary when removing make-up.
Make-up remover contains ingredients that bond easily with make-up. It brings make-up to the skins surface, enveloping particles and removing them completely.
Layering or touching up make-up such as mascara, eyeliner and lipstick may cause those areas to be more difficult to cleanse.
When using make-up remover, use carefully around your eyes and your lips first, then massage over your entire face.
If you are wearing heavy make-up, or waterproof make-up that’s resistant to tears and sweat, use an eye make-up remover, or a special remover for waterproof make-up. This will completely remove all make-up reside.
Products classed as “flammable liquids” (such as perfumes, nail polish and nail polish remover) with an alcohol concentration of 24% or more cannot be transported by aeroplane. Most of our normal make-ups and skin care products are 24% or less, but there are some exceptions including some tonics, hair and body products. Please check the concentration of alcohol in products are advertised as being “refreshing” with our customer service centre.

Make-up ingredients include pigments (colour components), which come in different colours like yellow or red iron oxide, or coal tar dye.
Of pigments, coal tar dye is characterised by its rich range of tones, and its ability to give make-up colours a vivid look. It’s not found in all make-ups, but it’s indispensable as an ingredient.
We only use pigments in our beauty products that comply with the strict scientifically proven safety inspections set forth in the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act in Japanese law, so there is no need for concern regarding their effect on the skin, or your general health. This ingredient can be used with peace of mind.
Frequently asked questions about lipstick and liquid rouge.
Lipstick has to be hard enough not to break or change shape, yet soft enough to spread smoothly onto your lips. To achieve this, lipstick is formulated with a variety of different ingredients including oil and wax. As these must be compounded in an extremely delicate ratio, sometimes the oil will seep out to the surface, for example in hot or humid summers, which causes water droplets to form. This phenomenon is called sweating. It does not affect product quality, and you can still use your lipstick.

Frequently asked questions about mascara.
Mascara dries easier than other types of beauty products, and after use it is best to wipe the opening with a tissue to remove reside, then replace the cap straight away. Also remember to use it up as quickly as possible after opening.
Frequently asked questions about lipliner.
The white powder-type substance on the tip means that the fatty acid, one of the ingredients, has undergone a minor crystallisation. You might feel a little hardness in your lip liner at first, but there is no cause for concern regarding usability or safety. This phenomenon can happen in pencil-type beauty products such as lipliners, eyeliners or eyebrow make-up, and is called “blooming”. This is the same phenomenon as the white discolouration sometimes seen on the surface of chocolate. It does not affect product quality.
Frequently asked questions about eyeliner.
Waterproof beauty products are very good at repelling water, but oil makes them prone to smudging. Using foundation that contains a high concentration of oil to help keep your skin hydrated may cause your eyeliner to smudge. Make your eyeliner less prone to smudging by not applying foundation around your eyes, and being careful not to layer your foundation and eyeliner together. Liquid foundation is particularly likely to cause smudging, so you could try sealing your eyelid area with powder first.

Frequently asked questions about eyebrows.
An eyebrow pencil will not cause your eyebrows to get thinner. However, using too much pressure to apply an eyebrow pencil with a hard core may pull on your eyebrow hairs, making them prone to falling out. If you are concerned about this, use an eyebrow pencil with a softer core, and apply gently.

Products with an alcoholic concentration of 24% or less can be transported by air without the need for the concentration to be displayed. If sending by Japan Post’s domestic parcel service (“Yu-Pack”), display the type of beauty product (toner, moisturiser cream, soap, etc.) clearly on the product name section of the label. The term “beauty product” includes products such as nail polish and nail polish remover, which cannot be transported, so if “beauty product” written on the label your package will not be sent.
Your beauty products will expand inside the container in hot temperatures, which can cause the container to distort or rupture.
If your beauty product has been kept at an extremely high temperature at length, the product may separate, and the fragrance or colour may change.
Some aerosol products contain flammable gas at high pressures, and require particular caution. Exercise caution with beauty products containing a high concentration of alcohol such as hair tonic, nail polish, perfume and toner, as these will expand easily.
The type and amount of pigments contained in a nail polish, as well as the presence of additions like lame and pearl, will affect the drying time. For example, nail polish that has a higher concentration of pixels, or contains lame or pearl, will take longer to dry than translucent-type nail polish. (The more pearl or lame a polish contains, the longer it will take to dry.) It will also take longer for your nail polish to dry if you use two coats rather than one.
